It is long overdue that the youth drive the conversation of the day.

It should be known rape culture is entrenched in our society and we should take time for introspection and note behaviours in our everyday lives that perpetuate this never ending phenomenon.

Wow I cannot believe how much can happen in a year, I started writing this blog on the 21st of April 2016. It was sparked by the protest of Rhodents(Rhodes University students) against rape culture in their school and in society I guess… I really do not remember but 2017 cannot be a louder alarm bell if the ever was one.

I cannot sit here and write down a list of behaviours that perpetuate rape culture, because I believe that, is missing the point. There should not be police saying “hey! that is wrong”, “hey! that is rapey” because clearly prisons are not running out of business as people keep finding ways to end up there, and that is discounting the numerous people who should be in prisons

It is always easy to point out what is wrong and difficult to come up with solutions. One solution to this epidemic is self introspection, Its is annoying that a guy can say “not my daughter” “not my sister” but are willing to put another person’s daughter, sister, mom through the most.

I am a Christian, I am not a saint and I do not believe I am a better human being… I once wrote “being Christian is being Christ-like..” or something to that effect my memory is terrible. I do not mean Christ-like in a blasphemous sense but in a sense that I am striving to be like Christ and that is a journey and never a destination.

Let us just treat each other with respect… can we just do that? please… masihlalisane bantu beNkosi
Vicioushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01807137229414328522noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3051710799535207071.post-81278460447954145952016-10-14T00:02:00.001+03:002016-10-14T00:02:11.622+03:00I forgot how to write
No, it is not writer’s block…. you have to be a writer for that to happen.

I paged through my drafts and I can’t tell where any of those blogs were headed. I have decided to ease myself into the habit of writing. So most of my posts will be whatever did not fit in twitter’s 140 character

Now that I think about it is not a big problem to have I can revive my other blog with the short mini blogs and when I have an opinion piece… I’ll post it here.
Vicioushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01807137229414328522noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3051710799535207071.post-22429895851392444312015-06-02T16:19:00.002+03:002015-06-02T16:19:54.040+03:00Trust meRecently our Minister of Sport & Recreation, Fikile Mbalula asked

"Do you believe your fellow countrymen or the Americans? #FIFAarrests"

Its funny, the fact that I even have to think about it before I answer does not do my fellow countrymen any justice. Now I<strike> know</strike>... I believe Americans are liars, look at 9/11 the war on Iraq, their police forever killing black men with no reprimand and that is only incidents I know off. And then you have our government. Our government as far as I can recall does not make it a habit to lie to us, but their constant coverups, blame shifting and holding no-one accountable for anything even the smallest thing screams "You are not trustworthy"
The reason I say they do not lie is because after they feign ignorance it has been proven that no-one can do a thing about it.

It is not that we are not patriotic we are but we yearning for some justice, we are yearning for someone to say "hey we made a mistake", the 1st corruption Scandal in the new South Africa was Sarafina II, then president Nelson Mandela came out and said hey... we made a mistake (all though I do not know how long after the scandal did he say that), and we moved on. An admission of wrong doing if there is any wrong doing is all we ask. not just about he FIFA thing (I actually could not care less about FIFA) but about Nkandla, about Andries Tatane, about Marikana, even the ousting of Mbeki.

All we ask is a democratic and free society... is that much to ask for?Vicioushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01807137229414328522noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3051710799535207071.post-45379540437453127902014-09-12T17:01:00.000+03:002014-09-12T17:02:06.021+03:00Adieu ASF AdieuI cannot believe a year has passed, feels like yesterday that I was voted into office. I can even remember eaves dropping on the motivation that granted me the opportuni-ty to serve as Anglican Students' Federation's Media & Projects Officer.
It has been a very interesting year with ups and downs, smiles and frowns insert oth-er superlative here as I channel President Emeritus Rethabile Matlatsa's love for es-says... let's take walk down memory lane.

Facebook Group
I stepped into office at a time ASF's image was being dragged in the mud on social media with the executive (PEC) powerless to quell the situation as it had no control of the ASF group. Admittedly through no efforts of my own a serving PEC member is now and administrator of the popular group, which allows each ASFer to have their voice heard. Without suppressing any member's opinions we have seen a drastic reduction in facebook related issues, ASFers are more united than when I attended my 1st ASF conference in the Eastern Cape, and I believe we as ASFers should be proud that through our differences we came together.

Facebook Page
Still speaking about Facebook, noting that the database of ASF is difficult to keep up to date. I have seen to it that ASF has the means to disseminate information to mem-bers and the public. Granted the page is still in its early stages I believe it is the best means to showcase the work done by ASF and by proper use direct traffic to the ASF website. The page provides an authoritative voice of the ASF to keep members cor-rectly informed.

Twitter
With the rise of Twitter as the social platform of choice. The PEC saw it fit for ASF to expand its footprint on the internet to growing social media platforms. ASF is do-ing relatively on Twitter, engaging with members via the #asfquiz where ASFers learn about ASF, the Church and the Bible. How ever our twitter account does have its downfalls as there are not enough updates. This can be combated by giving re-gional MPOs access to the twitter account, thus increasing updates appeal and fol-lowers.

ASF Goes Green
At the 53rd ASF conference Mother Rachel Mash of the Green Anglicans encour-aged ASFers to be environmentally conscious. Contrary to reports at the 54th ASF Conference planting trees initiative stemmed (no pun intended) from the POA of GP/MP where MPO saw it a worthy project for the whole federation.

asfACTS
The feature story was the genesis of ASF, very interesting read I thank all collaborators, and all those who read it from cover to cover. Also to mention Lesotho Region and Western Cape Region had newsletters of their own published.

ASF Website
Probably my Achilles heel, it is true the website is hardly updated, but the notion that it needs to be redesigned i believe would be a costly exercise. The website needs fresh content on a regular. to that I suggest regional MPOs have powers to update their re-gional pages, and Provicial MPO moderates the page, after all no single person can do it all.
In the coming year I hope to see the ASF open a YouTube account, as too share those ASF moments we hold dear with those who could not make it to conference.
The groundwork has been laid the time is now for us to build. Alone the MPO can go fast, but with our help he can go farther. I leave you in good hands and I thank you for the journey it has been a joyous ride. We all have a little time on this earth we need to at least make sure when we see our last days we look back and smile, not look back and see if other people will smile.

I am opening with that paragraph, because, I see praises and lauds being thrown everywhere but towards myself, after having done a similar job... sounds petty but sometimes it does make you think maybe I didn't perform my tasks but I gotta keep my head up. I trust myself and I'm on to the next one

I have recently served my term as Media & Projects Officer of the Anglican Students' Federation, looking back I am pleased with the work I have performed. I did the best I could and most importantly I enjoyed myself. I have left the federation in terms of social media presence with a foundation that will allow it to grow and stand amongst the the big kids in the playground.

I now look to return to my blogging days and maybe try to open a personal website. But for now I'll pen my adieu note.

Later

Its about how we as the "youth" carry ourselves.

I have seen a growing phenomenon amongst the youth of today, we tend to treat each other with a lack of respect, calling each other "bitch" amongst other profanities. We hide behind "we are friends we mean nothing by it". My problem is not that we saying these self esteem crushing phrases to friend who may understand but if we make this a habit you might say the wrong thing to the wrong person.

Case in example... we all know it is not strange to find elderly people at institutions of higher learning. it is in fact admirable as it is not easy studying with kids. As I was sitting in the computer lab I overheard conversation between a woman and a youth. there were discussing some sort of group work, I cannot relay the conversation verbatim as I was not eavesdropping. the woman said "guys we have to go I also need to study, i failed the last test" the youth responded with a tone one would use when addressing his/her peers "uyitshone kancinci" which translated means "you did not fail enough".

My parents may not have raised me till 18 but that surely is no way to speak to any1 whether be it a peer or an elder...

That's my two cents...Vicioushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01807137229414328522noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3051710799535207071.post-52464759141806800492013-06-08T21:30:00.000+03:002013-06-08T21:30:06.596+03:00Insightthoughtful insightful sometimes well researched and wow. This is what i get every time i read one of my friends' blogs and I wonder why are my blogs not like that.

I believe it is due to a lack of self confidence and and faith in thyself. We need to believe in ourselves to see there is gold in all we do. 'trust and believe in yourselves' we are our worst enemies don't let the voice that say you are not good enough be louder than the voice that is cheering you on.Vicioushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01807137229414328522noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3051710799535207071.post-79412891032093678392013-05-20T01:58:00.002+03:002013-05-20T01:58:49.518+03:00Other blogDid i tell you all about my other blog?Vicioushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01807137229414328522noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3051710799535207071.post-42970734850231198802013-05-20T01:52:00.003+03:002013-05-20T01:52:56.435+03:00It's funnyI'm reading a blog not written by a person i know... weird right? ok its not that weird... thats not the point

I love the Anglican Church of Southern Africa... why? well my mom was an Anglican, my grandfolks were Anglican... from my mother's kids, I am the only Anglican, my siblings... branched out, I have no beef with other churches I like them all.

While reading the diary of a Zulu girl i came across something to prevalent today... people leave the Anglican Church to join other churches... and only return when they want to be burried or married by a priest and not a pastor or when the want some religious ceremony, like a baptism.... #SMH
relieved, just as many of us would breathe a sigh of relief after a mammoth
task. That breath of relief when you got your results, telling you that you are
graduating. That breath of relief telling you that you have completed a module.
It is finished. No stone left unturned, when one is relieved to finish
something its usually a testament of the amount of effort put in. One cannot be
relieved without a considerable amount of effort, with no effort put it would
not matter if a task was finished or not. but In Jesus death it was finished…
we are born in a world of sin and death is penalty for sin, but not our death,

is our Sheppard. Though sometimes our
dreams may be tossed and blown, we should walk on with faith in our heart...

From the movies, the series and maybe the odd book, I have come to realise that humans are animals of habit.
I do not know where exactly this idea spawned, it possibly could've spawned from all three sources. But it now sort of explains why the rich get richer and the poor get poorer. Why winners stay winning and losers stay losing. But all habits can be broken, hence the abundance of rags to riches stories... well in all fairness they aren't that many, but that's not the point.
The point is, I am going to attempt to get in a routine, this is a routine of which I believe will effectively allow me to be more productive... Its a work-in-progress type of plan so you will have to bear with me if it is not very detailed, so far I have my time management timetable.
Wake up at 6 am
Go to school at 7:50 a.m.
Get to school in time for the morning class even though some days I do not have a morning class.... Just keeping the habit going. pl

And my hunch was right these cops threw fire crackers at my feet... I jumped, ducked and dive, i thought i was being shot at... Idiots nearly gave me a heart attack

So my next post will be of the school song followed the school hymn... They will both be written to the best of my memory which i should duly point out is not the best of memories.... so please do comment so i could fix errors that may occur

Well let me tell you what happened this time

I was walking to wards the train station on a Sunday afternoon around 16:30, the sun was still up. A coloured guy approached me and and was asking for direction inside Belhar, I responded, I do not know where it is you want to go but there is belhar (as i pointed him there). He then asked is it safe for a guy llike him to be walking in there, I responded i guess so. Take note I did not stop, i kept walking.

Suddenly he grabbed my Jacket and pulled out a knife.. I think it was chef's knife, (i just googled types of knives). He then asked me to empty my pockets, I reached for my pants' pockets because thats where the least valuable stuff were, but on my right hand jacket pocket there was a bulge, unfortunately it was my cellphone a Sony Ericsson WT19i, it fell, he took it and he ran into what looked like a white 2001 VW POLO Classic, it was driven by a darked skinned guy, (Black, or Coloured),

So I ran after the car and went to freedom square residence, where i found a Security Guard (fiddling with his Blackberry) i told him to call the front gate to stop a white Polo, after wasting precious seconds redailling and stuff he finally got through to the front gate, where he was told the polo had just left., so i cried because i loved my phone and when i got to the police station, they told me i had to report it at another police station...

(which reminds me I have to write a review about it... From a broke man's view) Back to today's blog...

Previously I have written about events, thoughts, observations and maybe some other stuff... Does that say who I am? Yes it does... I have always believed the signs of a person's true self is always reflected in what they do.

Social Media
This form of communication has helped quite a handful of people a mouthpiece... Now we no longer have the cool kids corner.... Anyone can be a cool kid... with enough imagination of course, Facebook... You could make up your life and everyone will click "like"

I feeling a bit paranoid... it is as if I am fighting against someone who does not want me to win. I find it sad that it is then where i try to perform at my best. I know that the objective of an opponent but school was never meant to be like this... was it?

For example, for a school project i formed a group with Sotho speaking people and when we meet the dialect chances to Sotho and i am left out of the loop. I never liked group project because i suck at this social game... yeah life is really becoming like "Survivor". My inability to socialise has led me to struggle to find group mates for group project.
I have to take the blame, as i think it is up to me to reach out if i do not come out of my shell i tend to suffer in the end.

back to the group with the Sotho's well being a lazy person I chose to take the least responsibility in the group and opt to do the planning

Planning is not as hard as it sounds.. all planning can be cooked just list whatever has been done on a timeline, and lie as to when the undone work will be completed.

taking a laissez faire approach would backfire. Because their standards are quite low I too was subjected to their low marks... and you can tell on some1s face when they do not want to win.

Oh the paranoia part of the story... because i do not attend all group meetings and i do the least work i felt a little tension when i would pitch... and now they just ask for the work i did for them to keep. I think they are planning to kick me out. hence collecting all my work so they would not have something to present, as none of the can effectively use planning software. The last report they handed in gave us a below par score... and the one they were about to submit what looked below par a mile away report. Now I'm left burning the midnight oil tryna improve the document.

Today not good

Obviously what could I have expected I allowed laziness to creep in, I dropped the ball. It's good I found the problem early, hopefully I can nip it in the bud (first time using that expression I've heard it so many times though)

Well you must be wondering "What am I on about" got more Mid-term results and they are not going my way...

Having shared academic hustle stories with a good friend a few weeks back I feel inspired to go all out, No sleep again today... Yesterday I had no sleep but was not very productive... Tonight I grab the bull by the balls

On an unrelated matter I have two articles in the pipes

Back in high school I used to read the "The Chiel" section on the "Daily Despatch", especially the "Tailpiece", it was my sunshine on gloomy days. Here in Cape Town "Tavern of the Seas" by David Biggs is an awesome substitute.
Here's the funny bit:
A man pulled out his phone on a crowded bus and started a noisy conversation with his wife
"Hello, honey, it's Mark. I'm on the bus. Yes, I love you too. No. I had to work a bit late. No. I really did, I didn't go to the pub. No, I wouldn't go visiting anybody else. You know that. There's only you. I'll be home a bit late, so don't worry..."
And on and on.
Eventually a woman sitting opposite him shouted in a sexy voice: "Hey, Mark, get off that bloody telephone and come back to bed!"
Lol I wish I could do something like that, but I'd probably get beat up
Vicioushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01807137229414328522noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3051710799535207071.post-58699333463901594292012-02-28T09:48:00.000+02:002012-02-28T09:48:20.612+02:00NOKIAIts funny when everytime i express that Nokia sucks, people start to look at my phone, then they remark... Oh.. you're just jealous just because you do not own one.

True, I do not currently own a nokia, but i did own it for a brief period until someone decided i do not need a phone. It was a Navigator 6210... well i know its an old model, but besides the map, of which was its best feature it just did nothing for me.

When they released the first iPhone back in 2007, i could already forsee an era whereby which brand of phone you own does not matter. It will depend on the apps you have on that phone, that era is near, where brands are ditching their in-house operating systems to port to Google's Android.

Nokia stuck to their guns for too long with Symbian, the OVI store had nothing intruiging, it was just dead, everything was for sale... free apps were few and most were just a NO. This led me to keep reiterating that Nokia suck...

However Nokia might have seen the light and behind the new Nokia Lumia... is Windows, having never to have used a windows phone, i cannot comment about it but i would sure love to own one, hopefully 1 day...

Off to class have a blessed day people... much loveVicioushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01807137229414328522noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3051710799535207071.post-49889483654880836972012-02-23T17:57:00.000+02:002012-02-23T17:57:36.479+02:00LENT

My journey of lent officially began yesterday.

This year's lent I take it as a time to break an addiction. What is the difference between a new year's resolution and a lent sacrifice? This is the question that i pondered when reading what people are giving up for lent.

Well to me, the answer to that question would be (this is just an opinion do not take my word for it), Lent is a solemn commitment. Its a commitment with God's help you are hoping to better yourself as a human being and make the necessary life changes to your life style to try and live according to God's glory.

Fasting
While other people may undertake an absolute fast... I'll try but i doubt i will survive but I will eat for sustinece, I will not over indulge in food, the hotdog lady won't see me this Lent, and I bid farewell to the pies from the cafeteria

Give
Nothing new to me as my spiritual journey continues I am generally a giving person, I try to support all good causes, but again I am weary of those that come to me to launder by means of emotional blackmail.

Prayer
No longer saved for when ever I have problems or feeling thankful, every moment I will chance I get, I shall speak to the Lord even if it just to say "Hi".

About my addiction.. I will not mention it but by Palm Sunday I hope I'll be smiling saying lent went accordingly.Vicioushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01807137229414328522noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3051710799535207071.post-85732606291128726922012-02-17T13:00:00.000+02:002012-06-11T13:17:48.684+03:00So I got Robbed...!Yeah I know terrible way to start a conversation. I've just become a victim of South Africa's Crime Statistics

I was walking to school, listening to South Africa fall apart in cricket against the black caps...enough about cricket. as I walked on my normal route in walking at a rather rapid pace in front of me was a coloured man... OK nothing strange about that people walk fast all the time in the morning, probably he's running to catch a train or something... so I kept walking, a moment later I looked behind me there was this guy, also a coloured in a red shirt and some brown pants... he too was walking rather quickly... but he was not dressed as if he was going anywhere important. The cricket commentary was so good I did not mind him.

Fast forward a few steps later i felt an arm around my neck, chokingly he dragged me to ground and I was on my back. he came around mean muggin' and shit like that.
